Back onto the forest road and off towards Ystradfellte , Sennybridge and Crai . Mind the grid with a bump "Care" ! Go towards Llandeisant , through the farmyard , Slow ! Don't upset the farmer , this is Rally Country .
Over some bridges and we are on the wonderful roads around the Usk Reservoir and so to Llandovery . Beware of old people the sign says . Past farms, through gates and on to the lake , Llyn Brianne .
The note on the roadbook says ...
" CARE, STEEP DROPS INTO RESERVOIR ".
Up to the top and Kevin and I decide to stop at a carpark for a coffee and sandwich as we are ahead of our 3.08 am schedule . Passing
competitors slow to see that we are OK .
The nearby bush is well watered and we restart.
Several miles on we approached a 90° left . I remember it 50 yards ahead and then there was about a yard of tarmac in front of me. I braked and slid across the gripless frosty grass . Oh no !! That drop is a good foot . It will be murder to get the car out. !!
