1994 Won first four races and set fought with Damon Hill after Senna's death. Was disqualified from the British and Belgian GPs on assorted charges. Scored four further wins and won title when he took Hill out of the final race.
1995 Became World Champion again, this time scoring nine
wins for Benetton.
1996 Moved to Ferrari and did well to wind up third overall with two wins as car was not the pick of the pack and seldom finished.
1997 Criticised for swerving into rival Jacques Villeneuve's Williams in the final race. Had his second place in the championship taken away. Otherwise embellished his reputation by winning five Grands Prix in a less than competitive Ferrari.
1998 Took title race with Mika Hakkinen right to the final round, but his six wins just weren't enough, with a stall on the grid forcing him to start from the rear of the grid. A blow-out compounded his misery after he'd rocketed up to third.
1999 Won at Imola and Monaco, but season was thrown off course when he broke a leg at Silverstone. Missed six races and yet still ranked fifth overall.
2000 Fifth season for Ferrari. It finally comes together and Michael achieves his dream of winning the world championship with the prancing horse, taking a record equalling nine wins along the way. More
