THE LIEGE - TARGA - LIEGE RALLYE

             AN ENDURANCE EVENT FOR HAND BUILT CARS

As they say in all the best Edwardian novels, it all started
about two and a half years ago. I heard of an event for kit cars
which was to run from Liege to Agadir and back. The fact that the
organiser, Peter Davies runs Liege Cars had, I am sure, nothing
to do with the choice of start.

I wanted to do the event but did not know anyone who would either
be able to take two weeks off or afford to share the cost. I
therefore let the chance go and regretted it when all the stories
and photographs came back and were published in the kit car
press.

At around the time of the Exeter Kit Car Show last November the
word came that the new event would be called the Liege - Targa -
Liege. It would run via Rallye des Alpes country , some of the
Mille Miglia roads and on to do the daunting Targa Florio course
in Italy. The Stelvio Pass would feature on the return run.

Still faced with the same problems I put the word about through
the kit car world and through Mark Fisher of Fisher Sportscars
that I was looking for a madman or woman to share the Furry
Spyder on the run.

Initially there was a deafening silence from the length and
breadth of Britain . However I decided that …..
"God will provide for the needy"
and sent in my £500 deposit anyway.
