Renault's purchase of Benetton on the spring of 2000 brought fresh
optimism but little in the way of an improvement in results. He grabbed second in Brazil after David Coulthard was disqualified and further
podiums in Monaco and Montreal followed.

2001 brings a fresh challenge. He is up against Jenson Button, who is seen as the natural heir to Fisichella's crown as the 'next big thing'.
He can't allow Button to get the upper hand.
